The Dorchester County Board of Elections is made up of three full members and two substitutes. The party of the State Administration is allowed two members of one of the major parties (i.e., Democrat) and the remaining member is of the second major party (i.e., Republican). One substitute is Democrat and one is Republican. Board members are appointed by the Governor and serve for a minimum of four years. At the end of their terms, names of current members and/or new individuals are submitted by party central committees to the Governor's Appointment Office for consideration. New terms begins on June 3, 2015.
The Board is required to provide an election office within the County to be open for business and assist the voting public. Dorchester County elections office is located at the:
