How to activate your Vi eSIM?

Before starting with the steps to activate Vi eSIM, it is worth noting that the operator is offering eSIM support for its postpaid users in Mumbai, Gujarat, Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab, UP East, Kerala, Kolkata, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Goa. That means that you will only be able to activate Vi eSIM if you are in one of these states.

  1. Once you have a compatible device and are in an eligible area, you can start the Vi eSIM activation process by sending an SMS message “eSIM Registered Email ID” to 199.
  2. You will receive a confirmation SMS message if your email ID is valid. You must reply to that message with “ESIMY” to confirm the ESIM request. If you find the original email invalid, VI will also send you an SMS with the correct email ID to resume the process.
  3. After the confirmation SMS message, you will get another 199 messages asking you to give your consent for activation on the phone call.
  4. Once you consent to the call, you will receive a final SMS message informing you of the QR code found on your registered email ID to add eSIM to your phone.

Now, you need to add eSIM to your phone by scanning the given QR code. Depending on which phone you have, you can follow the steps below. In all cases, make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.

1. Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Add Data Plan.
2. Now, scan the QR code received in your email and follow the on-screen prompts.

2. Now, scan the QR code received on the email and follow the on-screen prompts on your phone.

How to Activate Vi eSIM on Samsung Galaxy Phone?
