Railway unique initiative: Chocolate-filled AC coach train departs from Goa to Delhi

Railway Unique Initiative: For the first time, a new idea for transporting chocolates and other food items using AC coaches came up in the Hubballi division of the South Western Railway on Friday.

On October 8, chocolates and noodles weighing 163 tonnes were loaded in 18 air-conditioned coaches from Vasco da Gama in Goa to Okhla in Delhi.

It was a product of AVG Logistics. With the success of this initiative of Indian Railways, preparation to start it further.

According to a release issued by Southwestern Railway, this AC parcel express train will cover a distance of 2115 kilometers. As a result, the railways have earned Rs 12.83 lakh.

With the marketing efforts of the Business Development Unit (BDU) of the Hubballi Division, this new trend is capture by railways, which traditionally were transported by road.

The Hubballi Divisional Railway Manager Arvind Malkhede says rail services are actively reaching clients to use simple, fast, and cost-effective services.

The monthly parcel revenue of the Hubballi division has crossed Rs 1 crore since October 2020.

Hubballi Division’s parcel revenue during September 2021 is Rs 1.58 crore.

The total parcel revenue of the department till September 2021 during the current financial year is Rs. 11.17 crore.
